Lady Gaga says: That her controversial single 'Judas' is not a dig on religion, instead she is singing about an ex-boyfriend who betrayed her.
The Grammy winning singer's latest release was heavily criticised by religious groups for the Christian imagery used in its video, but the song is about her own heartbreak, said Gaga. The 25-year-old said the religious overtones hide a deep personal meaning as she is singing about a former lover, reported Contactmusic.
According to reports, the culprit is Luc Carl, whom Gaga has been dating on and off for the past year. Their split was announced just days after the release of 'Judas'. "And then I thought about the biblical implications and how Judas was the betrayer. And once I thought about what I wanted to do with the video, Judas didn't really betray Christ because he was part of the prophecy. We attack the idea by saying my ex betrayed me and this person haunts me, but I forgive them," Gaga added.
